The Testing Integrity Program, (TIP) was organized
in 1996 to assist the Drug Testing Standards and Practices Committee of
the
Racing Commissioners
International (RCI)
in its effort to create a world-class quality assurance and drug testing
program for the horse and greyhound racing industries. TIP is maintained
by racing analysts, veterinarians, academicians, administrators, and
researchers who volunteer their time, services and expertise. TIP is a
non-profit organization supported by fees, donations and contracts,
which support meaningful and mutually rewarding research projects,
regulators and spectators.
The research efforts of
TIP member
institutions have resulted in the distribution
of over 50 drug administrations. These administrations have led to the
development of numerous verifiable and transferable methods for use in
the daily task of drug testing in the racing industry.
These
methods are available to any racing
jurisdiction or research laboratory. TIP emphasizes excellence through
demonstrable competence by providing quarterly proficiency sets, and on
request, external quality control samples (blinds) to
member testing laboratories.
TIP scientists are available to serve in advisory
capacities to racing organizations in reference to veterinary,
pharmacological and analytical issues. Please contact any
TIP member
if you are interested in obtaining more information about our
activities.
